Looking ahead

During 2022/23 we plan to continue on the trajectory we have set for the ongoing transformation of what we do.

We know that the work we have been doing to improve and modernise our services in line with our digital-first approach is already making a difference to our members’ experience of the IFoA. In 2022/23 we will bring this to life even more – for instance, as we continue to refresh our web presence, and offer a new outlet for engagement through digital communities.

The launch of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy was an important step in us championing and embodying the benefits of a globally diverse and inclusive profession, and during 2022/23 we are committed to embedding and measuring it to support our aim of ensuring we are representative of all our communities. This begins with benchmarking key demographics of our leadership bodies, so that we have meaningful baseline data upon which to build.

We will continue the progress we have already made to build the habit of lifelong learning among our members, by expanding pathways to qualification, and fully implementing contemporary online assessment.

Part of being the voice of actuaries involves developing the IFoA brand. According to a recent survey from Ipsos MORI, we have already begun shifting perceptions with key stakeholders. We will now look to sustain public confidence and ensure that we are having even more meaningful engagement. One of several valuable avenues for this remains our thought leadership work, which helps us engage members and industry experts alike – this programme will deepen further in the coming year.

Similarly, we will also move from articulating our integrity as a modern, progressive regulatory body, which demonstrably serves the public interest and is proportionate in reach, to demonstrating this. Examples such as a newly launched Practising Certificates Scheme, as well as a Disciplinary Scheme review, illustrate how the standards of the profession are at the forefront of all we do.

We have already begun to strengthen our global presence and during 22/23 we will establish and deepen strategic engagement with a wider range of stakeholders, especially employers and universities. As a worldwide body, we continue to take pride in our heritage, and are similarly inspired by the opportunities the IFoA’s global presence affords.
