Delivering for our members
Welcome to our annual report for 2021/22. This was a year of transformation for the IFoA, as we sought to improve the member experience in everything we do.
During another extraordinary year we are proud of the progress we have made as an organisation.
We continue to manage our way out of the pandemic, but with a clear eye on our two longer-term goals: to transform the IFoA and the impact it has on the profession, and to improve how our members feel about the organisation.
Being a ‘Learning Society’ means that as well as supporting our members' learning to help them have a fulfilling and rewarding career, we must also learn as an organisation. That’s why our members’ needs drive everything we do. Our latest member survey indicates that our members are starting to recognise the improvements they said would make a difference – in particular, the work we have been doing to improve and modernise our services in line with our digital-first approach.
What has resonated is the value of our support in areas that are important to our members. These include delivering actuarial education and lifelong learning, setting and upholding standards, and promoting the actuarial profession and the value it brings to business and society.
Our members place a great deal of importance on the IFoA being the voice of the profession, that’s why we are engaging constructively with the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on its consultation into the reform of audit and corporate governance. This is a critical consultation for the profession.
We are constantly learning about how best to be the voice of our members. There’s a lot in progress for 2022. We have just launched our new five-year diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, which recognises that diverse and inclusive thinking and behaviour are important to the sustainability of our profession, enabling us to attract and retain talented people, no matter where they come from or whatever their background.
All of this goes without saying that we are working with a continued eye on the long-term future of the profession, aiming to ensure that the IFoA is at the heart of it.
