Actuarial work
Diversity, equity and inclusion considerations are an important part of actuarial work.
We're working to ensure the standards we set support a more equitable profession.
We will:
- Review and develop, and influence the development of, clear standards and expectations so that actuarial advice takes into account DEI considerations and limitations in the same way as other actuarial factors, dimensions and professional considerations.
- Review and update (if necessary) the Actuaries Code, professional standards and guidance to set high expectations of personal behaviour and to protect the reputation of the profession. Include in any assessment of IFoA policy changes and/or initiatives their impact on equity and accessibility.
- Deliver support and other learning materials to help members in discharging their actuarial responsibilities.
- Introduce initiatives to support members to develop their behaviours and skillsets so they have the ability to work with diverse groups and diverse thinking.
Upholding standards
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) regulates its members to assure public confidence in the actuarial profession. The IFoA is incorporated by Royal Charter under which it has the role of regulating the actuarial profession in the public interest. We regulate the actuarial profession in a way that promotes the public interest by holding members to high standards of professional competency and conduct.
